Effective October 6, 2026

Courtney Works is a small set of instructional coaching tools that I, Courtney, built and run. This page explains what each one does with your information.

The short version

For every site

Hosting

Every site here, including this home page at courtney-works.com, is hosted on Google Firebase. Like any website host, Firebase may keep standard technical logs of requests, such as IP address, browser type and time. I don't use these logs to identify or track anyone.

Fonts and code libraries

Some pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts, and the Talk Flow Observer loads its PDF library from cdnjs (run by Cloudflare). Your browser contacts those services to fetch the files, so they see the same kind of technical request details. No information you enter is sent to them.

Google user data

Each tool's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. It is used only to provide the features listed for that tool, is not transferred to anyone else, and is not used for advertising or to train AI or machine learning models.

Coaching Dashboard

dashboard.courtney-works.com

The Coaching Dashboard is my personal planning tool. It isn't offered to the public, and only my Google account can sign in.

What it stores

The notes, to-do lists, reminders, schedules, images and settings I enter are stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage), locked so that only my account can read or change them. My browser also keeps the colour theme and a working copy of open course meeting notes in its local storage.

What it uses from Google

To stay connected, the dashboard keeps a Google refresh token on its Firebase server, where no web browser can read it. It is used only for the two purposes above.

Talk Flow Observer

observe.courtney-works.com

The Talk Flow Observer records who talks to whom, and what kinds of questions are asked, during a classroom observation. Signing in requires a verified Google account at cgps.org (or one specifically approved by me).

What it stores

Students are recorded only by their seat on the room map, never by name. Data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore under your account and locked so that only you can read or change it. Your browser also keeps a backup copy of your sections and most recent observations in its local storage, so work isn't lost if the connection drops; signing out clears it.

What it uses from Google

Only Google sign-in. Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with the tool, which uses your email address to check that you're allowed in. It does not access your Google Drive, Calendar or any other Google data. PDF reports are created in your browser and saved only where you choose.

MAP Report Tool

map.courtney-works.com

The MAP Report Tool turns NWEA MAP data exports and class rosters into PDF reports for teachers.

Your files stay on your computer

When you open a MAP data file or a roster, your browser reads it on your computer. Matching, calculations, the preview and PDF creation all happen inside the browser tab. These files and the student information in them are never uploaded to this website or sent to anyone else. They stay in the tab's memory until you click Clear everything or close the tab. The page's security settings only allow it to talk to itself and Google's APIs, and it ignores columns it doesn't need (such as birth date, gender, ethnicity and state ID).

Google sign-in and Google Drive (optional)

You only need to sign in to use Create roster sheet, Load from Google Sheets or Save to Drive. The tool asks Google for one permission: to see, edit, create and delete only the Google Drive files it creates or that you use with it (drive.file). It cannot see any other files in your Drive. With that permission, and only when you click the matching button, it:

Google's access key is held in the browser tab's memory only; it is never saved, and it expires within an hour. The tool may remember the ID (not the contents) of the roster spreadsheet you last loaded, in your browser's local storage. Files it creates belong to you, in your own Drive.

Student information

These tools are built to hold as little student information as possible. The Talk Flow Observer records students only by seat, and the MAP Report Tool processes MAP data and rosters only on your computer, so neither keeps student records. The reports, roster sheets and files you create and keep are yours to manage; please store and share them according to your school's data policies.

Removing access and deleting data

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
